Finally, the wait for the Android developers comes to an end as Google I/O 2019 keynote is finally a wrap. But it has left the technical world buzz with some of the major announcements in its two-hour event.

This is the time when Android developers look up to something new for the company’s mobile operating system. But, such announcements also interest the average Google watcher.

Now that Google conference 2019 has wrapped its keynotes, there is a lot to recap from the whole episode. Below are some of the most important things that Google had announced. Have a look at Google I/O 2019 highlights in case you have missed the event.

Here are some of the major formal public statements that probably could be Google I/O big news for you.

1) Nest Hub Max

In 2018, Google had announced that it was about to absorb Nest and increase the Google ecosystem with some smart home gadgets. This move had signaled major changes for the two companies that operated independently.

With Google I/O 2019 announcement of launching a new product for the line i.e. $229 Nest Hub Max, it has completed the transition.

So, with the merger, all the nest users will soon be asked to convert their nest accounts into Google accounts to create a smart and unified platform.

The device is a larger version of 7-inch Google Home hub as it has 10-inch screen and a front-facing camera for video calls.

The device is a combination of Google Home Hub, Nest Camera and the Google Home Max, Nest Hub Max. It also offers you a smart display, security camera and loudspeakers that too all in one gadget.

2) Live captions to all videos

Here is something Google has come up with especially for people who are deaf and hearing-impaired and that feature is live captions.

In Android Q, live captions will automatically give subtitles to the media you will be watching, be it a video, on a camera roll, on any application, or even video chats. It is a good feature for all those who wish to watch videos in public by lowering the volume or by being on a call. So, the feature assists you in multitasking. Not just this, the feature will also be added to phone calls to help you in knowing the words you fail to understand. Google says, “As soon as speed is detected, subtitles/ captions will appear even without internet connection.” Sounds attractive!

3) A dark theme on Android Q

The latest Android Q beta today offers a dark theme for all standard Android application. However, we have seen this feature in the early Android Q beta, but then we did not have a choice of turning it on/off. But now, you will be able to choose inverted app colours manually or turn it on by using battery saver mode. It will be done by swapping out bright interface colours for black and greys. It will also cut down on the blue light streaming into the eyes.

4) Pin particular channels to Android TV home screen

In addition to all the above features, sometime later this summer, Google is giving Android TV users the ability to pin their favourite TV channels. For instance, from TV services like Philo, Youtube TV, and others you will be able to pin channels directly on your TV home screens.

At present Android TV allows you to reserve space on the home screen for trending content from the video apps like Netflix. But with the recent update, you will be able to pin your favourite channel directly to the TV home screen.

5) Midrange smartphones: Pixel 3a and 3a XL

As already expected, Google has launched its midrange smartphone i.e. Pixel 3a and 3a XL. Pixel 3a starts from $399 and Pixel 3a XL starts from $ 479. These phones come with advanced camera features like Super Res Zoom, Night Sight and portrait mode on both the rare and front cameras.

The Pixel 3a has a plastic case instead of aluminium one which is found on higher-end pixel 3. The new pixel will be available in 3 colours – white, black and purple.

6) Lens update

Now you no longer have to live in a fear of how the food will look like after ordering as Google has come up with its lens updates. Like, you will be able to contextualize a menu or any information on paper while ordering.

This time, as per Google, you will also be able to search for exact dishes and its photos based on Google map result. Adding to it, Google will allow you to point the camera on receipt and add a tip. So, if you are a big-time foodie but has always feared of the kind of food you might get, then shed away this fear as Google’s latest update will help you relish varied delicacies with confidence.

7) New privacy controls

Lot of your information is there in Google servers and that information is used to serve targeted advertisements and customized web experiences. This practice is certainly not liked by everyone. So, this time Google has come up with privacy controls which will help in controlling the data.

For instance, Google will give the ability to schedule automatic deletions of location data. Android Q will give reminders about third party assessing your phone location data and allow you to turn off the location data. So, the privacy of data and information is also being taken into consideration this time.
